Our Current School Board Members are;

Katie Taylor (Chair Person)
Hi, I’m Katie. My eldest of 2 daughters is currently in Pre-Primary. We have a long family history at Vasse Primary School, with Frankie being 5th generation on her Dad’s side to attend the school. Vasse is a lovely school and I am looking forward to being involved in its strategic direction, ensuring it continues to be a great school for generations to come.

Professionally, I have worked in State and Local Government for the past 15 years mainly in Community Development. I have experience in community engagement, strategic planning, governance, advocacy and have chaired a number of community committees. I am passionate about youth mental health and ensuring that our community is accessible and inclusive for all.  I am a pragmatic decision maker, friendly and approachable and love to have a laugh.

Simone Atkins (Parent Representative)
“A resident of Vasse since 2016 and a parent at the school since 2018. I am passionate about the development of our youth and ensuring access to education and support services for all within the community.

Professionally, I have had over 20 years experience in administrative roles specialising in Human Resources and Quality Management. Having held senior roles within the Mining and Community Services sector, I currently serve as an Executive for a Community Service Organisation (Not-for-profit) based in Bunbury.”

Amy Gornall (Parent Representative)
“I have lived in Busselton for the past 10 years, and holidayed here a lot throughout my childhood. I have two children at Vasse Primary. Our connection to the school began with Vasse Playgroup of which I was President for 2 years before my daughter started school. I am a Marine Scientist, and the Operations Manager at Busselton Jetty. My work with Busselton Jetty Inc. allows me the ability to connect with many different facets of and people within our local community.

Between my current role, as well as 7 years working in Science Communication at Scitech prior to having my children, I have experience in development and presentation of education programs, in particular in the areas of science and conservation.

Ulrika Larsson (Parent Representative)
“I was born in Sweden but have lived in Busselton for the last 16 years, 10 of those in beautiful Vasse. Me and my husband Luke have 2 fun and cheeky boys, one currently at VPS and one little one who will start in a few years.

Wine is not only a passion of mine, but I have also made my career in the wine industry and have been working in this field for most of my time here in the region – the last 10 years at Clairault Streicker where I currently hold the position of Brand and Venue Manager.

Outside of work I live an active and very social life full of camping, motorbikes, exercise and dinner parties among lots of other hobbies. I am very passionate about education and hope to bring some contemporary and inventive ideas and strategies to the board.

Erin Smith (Parent Representative)
“I have lived in Busselton for most of my life, attended primary and secondary school here and have certainly seen some changes in that time, especially to the Vasse area which I have called home for the last 13 years. I married a local farmer after completing my university degree in Medicine and have worked in various roles at Bunbury and Busselton Hospitals, then General Practice thereafter.

Our two sons attend Vasse Primary School, as did their father and grandfather, and we are very proud of our school. It still feels like the “small” local school from all those years ago with a great sense of community and belonging. I have an interest in mental health and feel that belonging to such a great community is important for all of us. I hope to bring a unique point of view to the school board as a newly appointed parent representative that represents our current climate.

Samara Hartnett (Community Representative)

Karlie Scully (Co-Opted – P&C Representative)
“Hi, I’m Karlie. My husband Todd and I have 3 children, Eva (Yr 7), Emily (Yr 5) and Ethan (PP). We moved to Vasse nearly 2 years ago for a sea change from Kalgoorlie and absolutely love it.

I am a teacher and am currently studying nursing. In our spare time, we love to go camping and explore our beautiful State. I am passionate about the education of my children and believe being a member of the P&C is a great way to be involved in it. I love the country feel of the school, the opportunities it provides and look forward to seeing its progress over the coming years.”

Amy Sefton (Principal)

Janine Shaw (Staff Representative)

Kathy Guiver (Staff Representative)
”I have held the position of Manager Corporate Services (M.C.S’s) at Vasse Primary School since 2004 and have watched the role evolve significantly throughout this time. In 2017 I was accepted by the Department of Education in the first cohort of M.C.S’s and Principals that completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Education Leadership through Deakin University. My role at Vasse Primary School continues to be inspiring and rewarding and I feel privileged to be a part of such a fabulous school.”
