Truth Telling Walk and Gathering

Selected Years 5 and 6 students from West Busselton and Vasse will walk along Queen Street to Mitchell Park where they will
listen to historical recounts from local Aboriginal Elders. They will then have recess before returning to
school.

Please note that the historical content can sometimes be confronting so please check in with
your child after the event.

On Thursday we invite you to walk with the Wardandi people for the for the third annual march of remembrance commemorating the 1841 Wonnerup/Minninup massacre. Organised by Wardandi elder Bill Webb, the march was first held in 2022 and saw a great community turn-out. The day will include speeches by Wardandi elder Bill Webb and historian Mary Blight; historical displays and music. Our goal is to create a united community by acknowledgement, reflection, education and healing, in a peaceful walk down Queen Street, Busselton.
